After the invasion of the Lagos House of Assembly by security operatives, including police officers and Department of State Services (DSS) officials on Monday, lawmakers strongly condemned the action.
The lawmakers clashed with the security personnel before successfully gaining access to the chambers, where they proceeded with plenary under the leadership of Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
The lawmakers expressed their outrage, demanding an explanation from the Director General of the DSS, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for the actions of his officers.

Among those who spoke out were Kehinde Joseph, representing Alimosho Constituency 2, and Ladi Ajomale, representing Oshodi-Isolo 2, along with other members who voiced their disapproval of the DSS’s actions.
The 36 lawmakers present in the 40-member assembly passed a vote of confidence in the new speaker, affirming that efforts to force her resignation in favor of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, would not succeed.
Speaker Meranda became emotional as the vote of confidence was passed before the plenary was adjourned indefinitely.
The DSS and the assembly have exchanged statements regarding the presence of secret policemen at the House.
While the DSS claims its operatives were invited, the House has denied making such a request.
Last month, more than two-thirds of the assembly members removed long-time Speaker Mudashiru Obasa over allegations of fraud and other charges, replacing him with Mojisola Meranda.
