Wunmi, the widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has accused her father-in-law, Joseph, of attempting to take control of her late husband’s properties while making disparaging remarks about their son, Liam.
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo on Wednesday, Wunmi shared that she receives daily death threats and no longer feels safe.
She spoke about the ongoing battle over Mohbad’s estate, the controversy surrounding her son’s paternity, and the fear that has taken over her life.
She claimed, “My father-in-law wanted control of my husband’s properties and was determined to destroy my life. He has been constantly criticizing Liam, saying he has bow legs, which no one in their family has, and even claimed that Liam’s face looks older than his, despite him being almost 60.”
Wunmi further accused her father-in-law of going as far as alleging that Mohbad had intended to throw their son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge.
Since Mohbad’s sudden death in September 2023, Wunmi has been embroiled in a contentious dispute with his family.
Her father-in-law has repeatedly insisted on a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity, which has only fueled more controversy. Wunmi said, “I have made it clear that I’m ready for the DNA test, but he insists that the results should remain private.”
Apart from the property and paternity disputes, Wunmi expressed concern for her safety, saying, “My son and I no longer feel safe. I receive threats every day, and it’s come to a point where I either speak out or suffer in silence. I’ve been attacked by Naira Marley, his supporters, and my father-in-law.”
Mohbad’s father recently voiced suspicions about Liam’s paternity after two of Mohbad’s friends revealed during a coroner’s inquest that the child was a point of contention between the late singer and Wunmi. He also claimed that Wunmi never provided him or Mohbad access to Liam’s placenta.
Despite the ongoing disputes, Wunmi emphasized that her primary focus is seeking justice for her late husband and ensuring her son’s safety.
Reflecting on her marriage to Mohbad, Wunmi mentioned that it was her father-in-law who had initiated the marriage and had been the most excited about it, leaving her puzzled about his claims that she wasn’t married to Mohbad.
