Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has revealed that the conscience of those who betrayed him will not allow them to rest peacefully.
He made this statement in response to a post on X, where a user questioned why President Bola Tinubu had betrayed him despite El-Rufai’s significant contributions to the APC’s success in the elections.
El-Rufai acknowledged the situation but emphasized that he had moved on from the disappointment.

He remarked, “What is unfolding is just another life experience, @realYusufTukur, and a natural part of human behavior. We’ve gotten over it and moved on, but their conscience will not let them sleep well. Thanks anyway. – @elrufai.”
The user, @realYusufTukur, had earlier pointed out that Tinubu and his supporters had sought El-Rufai’s backing before the election, praising him, only to later claim that he did not support the president. The tweet read, “When they were desperately seeking El-Rufai’s support, #officialABAT and his associates were everywhere singing Malam’s praises. But given their tendency for ingratitude, they’ve now turned around to say that Malam didn’t even support PBAT. These testimonies say otherwise.”
The user shared an old video of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde praising El-Rufai and other APC governors for their stance on zoning the presidency to the South.
In the video, Makinde said, “I must give kudos to governors on the APC platform, such as El-Rufai, the governor of Jigawa, Mai Mala Buni, and the governor of Kogi.
They came together within their party and said, ‘For the unity of this country, let’s sacrifice our ambitions. Let the presidency rotate to the South.’ We must give kudos to them. But in our own party, we were fighting amongst ourselves; I don’t think that is right.”
In response, El-Rufai stated that he had no personal expectations from his political actions and that the current situation was simply a part of human nature.
