Valentine Ozigbo, a prominent Labour Party member and a governorship aspirant for the Anambra State election, has left the party. Ozigbo, who is a close associate of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, had previously contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While he did not reveal his next political move, Ozigbo explained that his resignation was in line with his commitment to the broader vision for the state.
In a statement released on Wednesday, he confirmed that he had informed Obi of his decision, showing his respect for Obi’s leadership and the principles they shared.

Ozigbo wrote, “Earlier today, at a State Executive Committee meeting of the Labour Party in Awka, Anambra State, I officially submitted my resignation letter to my ward chairman. This decision is driven by my firm commitment to the greater vision for our state. I also informed His Excellency Peter Obi as a sign of deep respect for his leadership, as well as the National Chairman.”
He continued, “In pivotal moments, our choices define the future we desire. Today, as I embark on a new chapter in my service journey, I do so with unwavering determination, a clear vision, and confidence that Anambra’s best days are ahead.”
“I joined politics not for personal gain but because I believe in the immense potential of our people. I advocate for leadership that is compassionate, inspiring, and truly serves the people. This mission has only grown stronger.”
Ozigbo emphasized that recent developments had shown it was time to build something new and impactful that would represent the hopes and dreams of all Anambra people.
He added that after careful reflection and consultations, he had chosen a path focused not on party affiliation, but on the state’s progress and transformation.
He concluded with optimism, stating, “This is not a moment of doubt but of celebration, renewed strength, and boundless opportunities. To those who believe in this vision, stand firm. Together, we will rise, build, and succeed. The fire for a better Anambra is stronger than ever. This is our moment. Ka Anambra Chawapu.”
