The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old Islamic teacher and cleric for the alleged murder of Yetunde Lawal, a final-year female student at the Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin.
The victim, Yetunde Lawal, was allegedly murdered by a cleric she met on Facebook.
The cleric (name withheld) allegedly invited the victim via phone call on Monday and killed and dismembered her.
The PPRO stated, “The Kwara Police Command is aware of the heinous murder of one Miss Yetunde H. Lawal.
“On November 2, 2025, at approximately 1800 hours, her father, Mr Ibrahim A Lawal, submitted a missing person case to C Division Oja-Oba.
“Immediately, police detectives jumped into action, tracking her phone number and arresting a suspect; exhibits were obtained.
The case was transferred yesterday to the SCID for discreet investigation.
“The suspect was apprehended using the deceased’s monitored phone number to the suspect’s home in Offa Garaji, Ilorin, but originally denied knowing her whereabouts.
“However, during a police investigation of his house, he admitted that she had visited him and reportedly died of an asthma attack.
“Upon further investigation, police discovered Yetunde’s dismembered body, hidden in a bowl, along with equipment used for the act.”
