The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has assured that the party intends to connect Anambra State to the federal government in November through the upcoming governorship election.
He emphasized that the South-East states should no longer be left out of the nation’s governance, noting that the best way for the region to reconnect with the center was by aligning with the ruling party.
Ganduje made these remarks in Awka on Saturday during the inauguration of the APC’s state secretariat, which was acquired, equipped, and furnished by two party governorship aspirants, including Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.

At the event, Prof. Okonkwo committed to securing the governorship position for the party in the November 8, 2025 election, should he receive the nomination.
Ganduje, speaking to party members, praised the Igbo people as the most nationalistic group in Nigeria, stressing the need for them to link up with the central government by supporting the APC.
He argued that joining the APC would allow the South-East to benefit from the opportunities available in the country, as a reward for their nationalistic spirit.
“We are here to inaugurate the party secretariat and meet with stakeholders to discuss strategies and take resolutions to ensure we reach our goal. And you know where we’re headed — to the Government House.
“We must stay focused, make plans, and have a clear vision, and I can see that the party in Anambra is aware of this. You have five states, and we hope for more in the South-East, but you need to strive to connect with the center.
“We want to bring you into the national grid. Politically, you are currently in a state of rural electrification, operating like a generator. This is unacceptable. You need to be connected to the national grid.
“You are the most nationalistic people in Nigeria. Wherever you go, you’ll find the Igbo doing something productive, and that is what nationalistic spirit means. So why remain isolated?
“We want to take you back to the days of Ojukwu, when he was pardoned to return for the sake of one Nigeria, and the days of Nnamdi Azikiwe. I am determined to make this happen, and we’ve seen your energy and commitment. We will start with Anambra,” Ganduje added.
The APC national chairman assured that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to the unity and reform of Nigeria.
“Many of the reforms needed are already underway, and that’s what defines a true leader. A leader who can repair what is broken—who speaks with facts and actions, not empty words. Tinubu is leading Nigeria to greater heights.
“We’re already witnessing the benefits of these reforms: increased oil production, improving security, operational refineries, and a strengthening currency. It’s crucial for you to connect with this progress. We seek your cooperation and commitment to win this state,” he concluded.
