Adedapo Idowu, a 94-year-old man, has signed up for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
His story was highlighted in the most recent bulletin from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where he shared his excitement about finally pursuing higher education. “At my age, I can now fulfill my dream,” he said.
Idowu praised the UTME registration process for being smooth and efficient, especially appreciating JAMB’s integration of the National Identity Number, which he believes has helped eliminate discrimination against the elderly, disadvantaged, and those with disabilities.
“The staff made me feel valued with their warm reception at the registration center,” he remarked. Idowu urged JAMB to continue its smooth registration system and expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the exam.
He also advised other candidates to approach their academic journey with professionalism and contentment.
The 2025 UTME registration began on January 31, and according to JAMB, more than 700,000 candidates have already registered, including 11,000 underage applicants.
